What is “patriarchy?” It is excessive masculinity that is perceived as oppressive and even authoritarian. It is excessive masculinity that is not necessarily targeted at women, but most likely men, because stronger men are more likely to abuse weaker men than to abuse weaker women. It's not that excessive masculinity isn't troublesome, as it's done plenty of crimes toward women and men, but that the phony accusation of “Patriarchy is the problem!” is often misattributed and spat out with baseless accusation. When we ignore the larger order of the usual culprits, biology and culture, which are intertwined with complex dynamics, and when we instead start to point fingers at the “patriarchy,” we are misattributing the cause of what women claim as “oppression.” In this series I get to be sarcastic in regards to the hypocrisy.... Moreover, if you want to find out why excessive femininity is just as bad as excessive masculinity, you can check out both, my semi-autobiographical and my nonfiction books about the faulty interactions and connections between women and men.
